Thank you Jochen,
One of those great zen masters advised his monks to cultivate a supreme doubt... but to walk and not wobble.... Jochens hand does not wobble when holding the brush ... it matters only there. As for the mind... now there is confidence, now self doubt... and easily said of course.

@ Elin: the images that first opened my heart appeared in real live – at the age of 3. The reception and worship of art came much later.

Thanks, Chris!
My artistical background – I started in the age of 3 – left positive influences on my commercial work. I stopped with that 13 years ago to concentrate on remembering what I first saw.
Chris Baker wrote on 01. September 2009, 13:20:03:
You do indeed have a stunningly captivating and technically adept gallery here, Jochen :) I wonder if your commercial background left positive influences on your work? (My own in that respect left residue, that will subside!).
Thank you for giving us a window on such magnificence here :)

Time, since it does not exist, is not a factor.
Web2.0 ought to grow up too become a less clumsy tool.

Perusing your new images--started to make comments on the ones I really like and realized that would be nearly every painting. Love Stardust. Fontane. Love your nature pieces. And your portraits so good, too. If I was going to have a portrait painted--you would be the one I would ask!
You're very prolific, too.
You make black and white sing. Are you really making the foray into color?
Best....
p.s. And what was I disagreeing about below? Obviously to something else other than the thread!!

I've tried to encourage people to view my new(ish) web site if they are interested in seeing more of my stuff (I may not have been successful on this site, I'll see about making it more accessible). That is where I will be posting new material.

Jochen
I apologize for taking as long as I have to respond to you or make any commentary on your work.Your work is of such quality and prolific breadth that I wanted to sit at my computer for more then a couple minutes at a time to be a considerate audience.
I am flattered that you would take interest in my images and even more so that you would give such positive feedback. You demonstrate a technical mastery in line with the very best representational painters. The kind of people that set the bar to which I am striving.Guys like Paul Fenniak, Nerdrum, Sophie Jodoin, Christian Vincent and Alex Kanevsky.I'm not saying I'd want to emulate you but your polish and resolve is so pronounced one could take nothing away from or add to the images you've made and do them any service.I would one day like to say the same about my own stuff. The compositional arrangements of the figures on the black ground with the portraits is so perfect. A refreshing minimal place that lets the precisely observed and nuenced rendering breath in a singular psychologal space. These people share a nobility alone and set apart from everything.
What keeps you working so much with acrylics as opposed to oils? Are there any contemporary painters that you draw from lately?
Thank you very much for sharing your work and observations with me and all of us.
Patrick

Compliments! I think your work is really interesting, modernist always remaining painting.
As I am a "kitsch" painter what I prefer are the portraits.
