greatgreatgreat! and may the winds carry you aloft to dance with the stars...

peter bies (peterbies)

Ja, es ist erstaunlich, wieviel Action, Farbe und Gefühl hier auf kleinstem Raum kondensieren.

Leopold van de Ven (Leopold)

I appriciate your playful search for new techniques

fra angelico (fra_angelico)

I just wanted to praise the tension between sharp and blurred. Then I read the introducing text and now this is blown away, because all I can see is the nude. I looked at it as abstract before charged with content only by the title. I liked it better that way, mmmh

Felix Adelmann (felix)

@Leopold: Thank you, that's very encouraging!
@Fra: Well, even though the text gives you a hint of what is being displayed in the picture, it still isn't revealling a big secret...it can easily be seen if you take a close look. Furthermore, the real question is not "are there naked breasts on the picture" but what does this tell you? I can assure you, there is much more thought in this work than just "sex sells" - to the contrary - but for the viewers' imagination's sake i will leave out an artists statement or interpretation of my work... It's up to you all. I'm sorry if you're disturbed by the displayed nudity, or rather the hint of such, and am happy to conclude one thing: it makes you react...

Jochen Hein (Jochen_Hein)

I see no the "sex sells" factor that might annoy here. But hormone always withdraws attention, so I do understand what fra angelico is saying.
If you ask, what does it tell me, Felix? It tells me: considerable breasts ... and what to do with it? To prevent misunderstanding: it´s a good work.

Felix Adelmann (felix)

@Jochen: Hormones also create strong feelings - why not connect these with an artwork.. i find it interesting how confused people are these days...on the one hand completely blunted by all the t*?! and a.... that we have to see in advertising every day or at least can acces via the net whenever/wherever we want and on the other side we all are still easily affected by these stimuli.
And this is one of the questions i ask: What is the effect of the continuous affusion with sex and its medial accessibility? Don't get me wrong though: I am not denouncing this situation, just questioning its effect (especially to myself). We are - more than ever - sexually educated and supposedly open minded, but sometimes i get the feeling, more prude than ever.

peter bies (peterbies)

@: Jochen!
Don't worry!
There's hope!
Hormone production is A MATTER OF AGE!
Just wait!
Not for very much longer, and you'll reach a state of indifference
towards "breasts" and "sex" and the like!
No more asking what to "do" with it!
Quelle grace!

Jochen Hein (Jochen_Hein)

@ Felix: It´s not a question of prude. It´s ok if you really wish to ask this question: "What is the effect of the continuous affusion with sex and its medial accessibility?" But my problem is: I do not see a conjunction to this image ... explain me a little more, please.

@Peter: the asking should be here what to do with this image – what to do with my hormone in the meantime is a matter of a different community ;)

Felix Adelmann (felix)

@jochen: the prudity issue was neither adressed to you personally nor especially to this artwork. It was a general thesis whose proofs i encounter in my daily life. But this is not the forum for social analysis, so i'll shut up now.

Concerning the conjunction of this thesis and this work, i'll shut up, too, for two reasons: 1. The debate turns far too much into the sex-topic, much more than i intended to, and 2. i don't want to talk it dead and anticipate the viewers own interpretation - which is essential in my eyes. As you discovered in the very first moment, it can be both: just an aastract picture or a girl with 'considerable breasts'... So i want to leave it open to each and every one to decide what they see and think. I'm neither a moralist, nor a sexist. Just observing and coping with the things that surroud me.

Jochen Hein (Jochen_Hein)

Too bad – I thought that you´ll turn up with a brillant concept in this case ... mmmh, maybe some day. I´m looking forward to it, because before I do nudes I need to have one good concept – for now the people in my art have to stay dressed.

peter bies (peterbies)

@ Felix:
I'm sure here's room for social analysis alright!
Artdoxa is no ivory tower.
If you feel like it you might extend on the matter as profusely as you like.
Who should stop you?
Free speech!
@ Jochen:
I've dealt with the matter on a purely functional, if sententious basis:
"Sex? Wird HEMMUNGSLOS überbewertet...!"
And isn't it the hilarious truth?
