Education and activities
- Biography
jimmie james was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where he spent his childhood drawing. While studying architecture at Pratt and working full time as a draftsman in the old tradition, James began combining paint with drawing. What emerged was a form of abstract expressionism combined with elements of Naïve Art. After several years of developing his style, james began to do collaborative work with Irish painter Nuala Clarke and together they created the ten year project “oneplusoneequalsthree”, parts of which are still on display at Boltax Gallery on Shelter Island. James’ work has been featured on several album covers for Verve Records as well as in numerous TV shows and films, most recently in NBC’s “Kidnapped”. James’ new work will be on display at M Gallery this December in upstate NY.
