This started out inspired by the song “Max Bygraves Killed my Mother” – an obscure silly punk song by Keith Allen’s original band, The Atoms:
“Max Bygraves killed my mother
But he never quite got my dad
He hung around watching television
They got him in the end, ain’t that sad?”.
Then it turned into something more intensely personal.
Prime time in the living rooms
And now all the drapes are closed
Moonlight shinin’ from above
It seems like ev’rybody knows
Oh – something ain’t right
Well, God can turn the world around
And he can push it in the dirt
And he can tear it all apart
And he don’t care who all gets hurt
Oh – something ain’t right
David Byrne

The Only Ones:
Another Girl Another Planet
Disputed lyrics, but this is what I hear:
I always flirt with death
I look ill but I don’t care about it
I can face your threats and
Stand up straight and tall and shout about it
I think I’m on another world with you
With you
I’m on another planet with you
With you
You get under my skin
I don’t find it irritating
You always play to win
But I don’t need rehabilitating, oh no
I think I’m on another world with you
With you
I’m on another planet with you
With you
Another girl, another planet
Another girl, another planet
Space travel’s in my blood
There ain’t nothing I can do about it
Long journeys wear me out but
I know, I can’t live without it oh no
I think I’m on another world with you
With you
I’m on another planet with you
With you
Another girl, who’s loving you now
Another planet, who’s holding you down
Another planet
Rumoured to be about drugs but all I’m on is coffee.
(Ok there is red wine, but not in the daytime usually!)
Anyway: 65×50cm, Acrylics and spray paint on a spare dirty piece of mount board (no waste here)

“If you don’t know by now
Nobody’s gonna tell you
If you don’t know by now
The shock will probably kill you”
has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
