The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
The Bopshorus-Greeny-Project,
an intercultural art-project:
In my current projects I am developing artificial plants called “Greenys”. These Greenys are made out of green material, mainly yarn, crocheted and knitted by hand.
The Greenys are left in public spaces where passers-by can help the Greenys grow using crochet-hook and yarn, which are available at the respective sites.
The Bosphorus-Greeny will be a crocheted and knitted plant too, complete with skin, tendrils and leafs made mainly out of green yarn.
Prospectively in September 2010 it will grow across the first Bosphorus-Bridge which connects the Asian and the European parts of Istanbul.
The Greeny will have two strings; each of the strings will grow from one shore to the middle of the bridge.
My team in Istanbul and I are already working on the plant but we need your help!
We urgently need crocheted or knitted parts for the Bosphorus-Greeny in advance.
These pieces will be put together and the Greeny will grow.
At a public working-platform in Istanbul, prospectively in September 2010, the two strings will be joined together on the bridge, connecting Asia and Europe.
Everybody regardless of his/her cultural, national, religious background or age can take part in the project.
A documentation of the project, including (based on agreement) names and residence of the helpers (may be also their professions) is planned.
How participate in the project:
You can crochet or knit pieces for the Greeny in advance, since most of the plant must be prepared before September 2010.
Most urgently needed are pieces like tendrils (as long as possible with a diameter of 4-6 cm /
1,6 - 2,4 inches) with leaves or / and blossoms (rain- and wind-resistant). You can create them your own style. Let your fantasy grow!
