DAYS IN A LIFE
since 1995

Photographic prints: round about 365 per year 10 x 13 cm and as many per year 10 x 15 cm.

One wooden box per year. Transparancies with fotopockets and eyelets (two per month)

?Every day I take two pictures: One self-portrait with a regular camera (top left); when I leave the house for the first time. An automatic exposure, which will capture me from head to toe .

The second photo (bottom left) is a 24 hour exposure with a selfmade pinhole camera. A camera obscura which I carry all day long on a leather necklace. All the light that will be in my sight on that day will be collected on one of the negatives of this 200 ASA pocketfilm. The following day I’ll turn the film to the next negative.

Each year, since 1995 I made round about 730 photos, which should be presented on two opsite walls in a single room. In that manner, an at least 100 feet long passage will be created. Between the walls the spectator, finds himself int the perspective of the two cameras and will furthermore face certain opposites.

A DAY IN THE YEAR...
since 1995

C-print behind and on acrylic glass:
One Image per year (110 x 140 cm) the matching selfportrait is on the backside.

In addition to the conceptual, complete presentation of “Days In A Life”, I choose one twentyfour hour exposure of a special day per year. Besides aesthetic criterion, I make the decision by the personal values of the day in question. It could be a day with outstanding happenings as well as most common routines. The aim is to find that one day, where the image is visually interesting as well as the day beeing worth to remember or typical of the year. The selfportrait and the date of the same day is attached to the acrylic glass backside, framed by the hanging devices.
