About me
CHRISTIAN BAHR (ChristianBahr)
CHRISTIAN BAHR is a passionate and experienced German painter and draftsman for more than 30 years, with worldwide sales and international exhibitions. His works are to be found in private collections in the USA, Canada, UK, China, Australia, Germany, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. His atmospheric large format paintings capture both poetry and conflict, overall reflecting a strong aesthetic. His complex oeuvre contains several hundreds of paintings (mostly large-sized) and also numberless drawings. In his own words:
“Real life is the best teacher, every education is just an academic start and theory. But I don’t want to talk about the theory of art all the time, I don't want to live in an invory tower. Instead of that I want to feel, to breathe art, emotions and intellect want to be impressed and touched. Observers and collectors should feel all this in my paintings. And I'm inspired by nature's harmony, history and light. Again and again. Art ist a lifelong beauty, art is everything. Art is the real beauty of mankind."
- Biography
CHRISTIAN BAHR, born in snow-covered December 1965 in Buxtehude (Lower Saxony in the northern area of Germany) near the big waterfront city Hamburg. He looked at life from several and very different perspectives, but art was always with him, at any time and from the beginning to this day as an experienced abstract, partly expressive and gestural painter. He is a recipient of the medal of honor of the German Federal Armed Forces and a prior art masterclass member, a diploma holder with academic studies and advanced Latin proficiency exam, a connoisseur of ancient and medieval history, a qualified rescue swimmer, anti-drug expert and judoka with brown belt. He was on patrol with the U.S. Border Patrol at the U.S.-Mexico border and instructor of the Federal Customs Service of Russia. And now, as a professional and serious artist, he draws from all these different experiences of life and tries to give very personal answers in his art. In his words:
"What I know after all these years and what is one important message of my painting: life is really unpredictable. There's only a very thin line between truth and lie, enthusiasm and fanaticism, victim and perpetrator, light and shadows, and yes - last but not least - between life and death. There are no easy answers and it is complicated. Life is beautiful and life is hard, sometimes tinged with melancholy and sometimes like a summer day. But we must not lose faith in the good. Carpe diem - seize the day."- Exhibitions

has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
