About me
Eka Boogy (Ekabugiani)
- Biography
I was born in 1986 in Tbilisi, Georgia - the capital of Post-Soviet Republic. I grew up in an artistic environment. My grandfather was an amateur photographer who used to photograph on 60 mm and had huge collection of cameras and black and white pictures. As a teen I was familiar with how to make positives from black and white negatives. Also my elder brother, nowadays an artist, used to take art lessons and our home was always full of arts. This resulted in my passion for arts and photography.
In 2007 I graduated from the faculty of art history of Tbilisi State University, afterwards my serious interest to photography started. I made my first shoots with Zenit camera.
In 2009 I obtained a scholarship in DAAD-'s and went to Germany. I took a master’s degree in cultural, social development of the regions. My life in Germany was very challenging, active and full of new impressions. That turned out fruitful for my photography and it became the part of my everyday life. At the result I made a photo blog called - "Boogy's photographic diaries".
As general I work with film cameras. I don’t edit images deliberately. I think that raw images are more vivid and can evidently show a captured moment that eventually turns into memories. I haven’t thought to show my works in public until recently when my photos were displayed first time at the exhibition in Germany, Dusseldorf organized by the Ministry of Culture of Dusseldorf - "Düsseldorfer Kunstpunkte 2015".
has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
