João Teixeira (born in 1982, Coimbra, Portugal), even as a teenager was hard to stand indifferent not only to the close social situation but also to the one that came to him through the media. Like any young man felt he had to make a difference in some way, that was “here” for a reason. And perhaps this will to make a difference he tried to follow an area of study that he might fill that need. He studied at first Environmental Health at Health School of Coimbra, and right after finishing his studies he stared to study Nutritional Sciences at Porto University. Although never regret these choices felt that they were not areas that allow you to get closer to people, to make a difference in their lives. So he decided to begin his studies in nursing. While this path is not related to the arts, ultimately it had influenced his art. Only in 2010, aged 28, takes up an old hobby when he was young, drawing. Started with making portraits and figurative drawings, activity that lasted for about two years until he decide to try painting. In two years of learning about the basics of painting and its process by his own, he was able to put his work in private collections in countries like Portugal, United States, United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands or Germany. Along the way, still short, it is possible to note the development of a personal style that has come to be more accurate. The characteristic style is entirely related to the process of his painting. Various materials are used in their work, avoiding the use of brushes in order to “accidents” can happen. These accidents can sometimes make the work go back a few steps, but once he overcome this setback the work will became enriched by it. “Human body, with or without clothes, is the greatest source of inspiration, but as an artist making a copy of a moment captured by a camera is not enough to make a good work, It's necessary to look over and over again, fantasize, admire, contemplate and think about it to make something different hopefully better, than the original image, better than reality, my own vision.
