About me
Penelope Rose Cowley (PenelopeRose)
www.peneloperosegallery.weebly.com
Penelope's work expresses the translations of personal ideas, experiences, thoughts and memories to the surface. She also explores her ideas of how thought is held in the mind and transmitted from her brain through her nervous system to the surface and imagines what the process looks like if visualised. The imaginings of cognitive networks and brain structure are a strong element to her work.
'My Studio is situated above The Crofts Pub. I also run exhibitions in the Skittle Alley Gallery situated down stairs in The Crofts Pub.'

Crofting Curators scheme for the Skittle Alley Gallery-
'CROFTING CURATORS
'Crofting' is a social system in which small-scale productions of something grown plays a defining role. Crofting is characterised by its common working communities. Traditional crofters pursue a number of activities to earn their living, in this sense we wish to invite Crofting Curators to hold unique events for the Skittle Alley Gallery at The Crofts.
C R O F T I N G
The Crofts present a monthly series of locally sourced and for one to three day and night art events. The nights shall be given over to a guest curator and art groups to promote their own artistic vision and community, with a focus on emerging talent and multidisciplinary practices. Taking their cue from the host venue's name, curators will be expected to make the most of the less-than-white-cube conditions of the public house and develop extraordinary exhibitions which enhance the area.
There is no funding, however practical support is available.
No hire fee and no commission cost involved.
In order for the events to be sucessful we would expect curators to bring together a large audience for the artists and for The Crofts Pub. We are afterall a Public House that requires patrons to buy food and drink to maintain it's standing in this econmic down turn. In this sense 'Crofting' is the defining aspect to our ethos to work together as a community.'

Art Works by the Artist Penelope Rose Cowley.
This fasination of the mind lead her to creating the Massive Dynamic project. Penelope's mind will be explored in more depth by the process of a Magnetic Resonance Imagining (MRI) scan at Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) by Prof. Derek Jones and Silvia de Santis.
The MRI results will be exhibited as a montage at the Urdd Centre, Cardiff Bay 14th - 15th July 2012 for the Cardiff Science Festival and a selection of her art works and 'Visual Journey' will be exhibited at the Skittle Alley Gallery situated in The Crofts Pub, Roath, Cardiff.
This project aims to share recent advances in neuroscientific research through the use of novel artwork based on real data.
We will investigate and recreate information pertaining to the microstructure of white matter; the connections that carry information between different brain regions, using Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DT-MRI).
The artwork will include both data regarding brain structure and an interpretation of this data from the artist’s perspective, and will comprise a set of engravings on large acrylic panels, up-lit with coloured lights. The project has implications for brain diseases including Multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s Disease.

has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
