Inspired by the film "Man On Wire" this piece juxtaposes two iconic events in the life of the Twin Towers in New York City. One is the amazing tightroping stunt performed by Phillippe Petit in 1974 just before the towers were completed. The other is the horrific attack of 2001 orchestrated by Osama Bin Laden which brought about the Twin Tower's destruction.
Both clandestine schemes were carried out by foreign cells making multiple trips to the US for research. Both had a charismatic leader inspiring a dedicated core group of collaborators working on different continents. The similarities between these two events is uncanny and remarkable, but their ends and goals could not be more disparate.
Two ambitious spectacles. One purely violent. The other, ultimately harmless and playful.
