About me
Anne Herzblut (anneherzblut)
If you were to ask me “Why are you making art” I would tell you, “There’s no why”. As long as I make something touching, beautiful, meaningful and striking there is no “why”. If I stop for a minute and ask myself what my art is about, the answer is: The work should be in a continuous movement, it shouldn’t belong just to a short moment.
I want to be touched by my art, now and also in 30 years or later. My art should exist independently from yesterdays and contemporary questions, and renounce random circumstances. My aspiration is to orient myself with values which withdraw themselves from historical codes and allocations to something that is timeless, and ageless. That is why I now devote and extend my interest to subjects/elements which surround us as in former times, in the present, and in the future.
A tree is a tree, and clouds are clouds and will be clouds.
That which cannot be said, sometimes can be shown.
The fundamental beauties, desires, truths and lies – they are all the same.
They are just transformed by the respective time.
And therefore my paintings involve life itself, life through constant transformation.

has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
