An exploration of the use of symbols and shapes within an abstract painting with references to other things, adding to the whole with layers and colours, textures and symbols. Following deliberately on from previous paintings, using similar techniques. interestingly (or not) I think these paintings look like they take five minutes: they in fact take a longer time than many other paintings I have done because of the layers of textures and paints.
This was my first entry to a wearable arts competition. I didn't really know what 'wearable arts' was at the time, so I sewed together all my teabag ink paintings, to create a garment I could wear. It is beautiful to wear, light and ethereal. It came runner-up to grand prize. I fell in love with art to wear, it has art, movement, sound, and form. It is multidimensional, and inspirational.
has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
