- Biography
Deborah Angyo Gorman is a mixed media artist, poet and owner of Blue Buddha Studio in Richmond, CA. which features some of her latest works. Deborah offers a wide variety of classes in the mediums of drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media sculpture. Gorman obtained Master’s degrees in Studio Arts and Fine Arts from JFK University in 1996 and 2000. Deborah has been an active member of the art community for decades and shows her work in local galleries and online. She has an extensive background in the history of Surrealism, & Shamanic Art, as well as Modern and Contemporary Art. Gorman has been inspired by the works of a number of artists, among them Kandinsky, Picasso ( portraits), Remedios Varo, Tapies, Domingo Cisneros and Kiki Smith.
Her art is deeply rooted in nature. Its forms, lines & colors inspire her to create, in visual language, a sense of place, voice and the passage of time. Her surfaces often reflect the textures and transformations of the natural world and its creatures. Deborah would like her art to be available to a wider audience and believes that working with an online gallery will be the best vehicle for realizing this goal. She paints everyday and would enjoy sharing the fruits of her creative energy with a range of viewers and collectors. As an independent artist her sales have been strong and at this point in her career she’s ready to turn the marketing aspect of the work over to experts in order to keep her focus on her creative endeavors.“The work of Deborah Gorman is a journey through the late twentieth century mind. It is reflective of the realities of our lives, illuminating the totality of our experiences. Her work is about the process of making and the process of becoming...In that sense as viewers we witness an alchemical emergence of self.”Geri McNeal Johnson, Artist, Curator and Arts Educator

has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
