I have always admired the "Waterlilies" of Monet so I took a photo of the tropical waterlies in the Cairns Botanical Gardens and then painted them. Unfortunately these gardens were mostly destroyed by Cyclone Yasi in February. This painting captures that moment of the beauty of these gardens.
This artwork is an example of the quality of watercolour sketches that I use as studies for acrylic paintings.
To create this artwork I scanned, layered and digitally manipulated two painted studies and one of my photographs. The resulant image was digitally printed onto a canvas and then further painted.
Inspired by the great abstract works and aerial photography on Artdoxa, I created a series called "Journeys". This series uses and explores different types of maps to create artwork compositions.
This digital collage combines three of my studies of old decayed and rusting machinery and junk in an old foundry.

has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
