In my photographs I try to suggest interior states which can also be projected as behaviors or conditions in the world around us. I have developed a body of work using found objects in the form of toys and dolls which I purchase at second-hand stores and photograph in constructed fantasy settings. I use black and white photography because I prefer otherworldly monochrome images rather than the realism of colour. To complement my fabrications I use analogue film and darkroom techniques such as paper negatives, cut-outs, collage and montage to which I have recently started to add the occasional digital intervention.
