Le Xi (lexistudio)

My work looks at an object, focusing on the distance between its’ shadow and electronic light. Everywhere I looked, everything I saw, appeared as survey and mechanical drawings. The work represents a critique of themes related to the professional practice and socialized ideal of architecture as well as to the nature of urban life. I contemplate the transition from the mechanical to the biological. Using simple lines, shadow, drawn simply but referencing the techniques of a machine. There are shifts from anxiety to expectancy, and questions the distinctions between ‘objective’ (‘rational’) mechanical methods and ‘subjective’ (‘irrational’) influences. --- whether in two or three dimensions, or computer animation. I attempt to translate the mechanics of the projector into a physical and spatial form that engages common objects with something that is said, and at the same time with the object that is used. In so doing for the transition and connection, there is a disregarding of the boundaries between substance and shadow, and time and space.
