pawel mendrek (mendrek)

Pawel Mendrek is a painter, but works often with the technique of collage, which allows him to find a balance between drawing, graphic art and painting, attempt at assembling a personalized world using a distinct formal language. His paintings have consistently utilized graphic textures, forms cut from paper, stroke and smooth backgrounds. They have no illusionist spatial depth. Therefore, their focus is on the relationships between the figures and objects. Because of the simplicity of his technique, these works at first glance seem to be very domestic. They give form and meaning to that which we would normally consider unimportant. In this sense, Mendrek's works are a poetic interpretation of our everyday surroundings and relationships and the way life fills the contents.
