Susanne Ring – VERHOLZEN (LIGNIFICATION)

Memories, dreams and desires are expressed in the seemingly archaic works of Susanne Ring. Under the title VERHOLZEN (LIGNIFICATION), she combines her figures and images into a large wall ensemble. The title refers to a paradox: the process of lignification involves the death of cells and their transmutation into a resistant but dead material. This transformation is fundamental for growth and ensures ultimate survival.
