- Biography
Thelma van Rensburg was born in Pretoria, South-Africa in 1969. She has studied and travelled extensively. The artist has always had an interest in art, but did not pursue it as a career until 2000. You could say she was a late bloomer. She has a B.A Hons. Degree in Physical education and Psychology. In 2004 she decided to study art full time and received her B.Tech/ Honours degree in 2007 and majored in Printmaking and Painting. Her thesis focused on the Postmodern Identity, which she passed with distinction
I am interested in the female form and the objectification and dismemberment of women. I try to make sense of this dismemberment by the very act of dismembering. My main means of art making is the manipulation of images in Photoshop. By manipulating the skin or surface of the female body, I am subverting the traditional role of men, not taking control of the body myself and fragmenting and dismembering it – more often than not, the artworks manifest themselves through the female gaze. Through this process I create my own phantasmagoric world of women.- Exhibitions
Thesis completed cum laude

has been for sale for some time, as you have seen. The maintenance and ongoing development to keep our non-profit and idealistic platform for contemporary art running and safe from hackers etc. costs money that is no longer there. Because of small investments that are necessary now and the running costs, we will have to shut down with a heavy heart at the beginning of summer on June 21.
