The Porte des Remparts is the eastern entrance into the medieval village of Les Matelles. It passes through an ancient bell tower, part of the church built into the village's ramparts.

Ancien chemin du Triadou is a small old road leading out of Les matelles. It once went to the neighbouring town of Le Triadou, but now goes nowhere except to some not particularly nice houses, and the main road instead heads towards Le Triadou. This view is from my studio. On the right is the old Bergerie that has appeared in other works of mine. On the left is a building that used to be an old winery but has recently been converted to flats.

L'été d'un jour
L'été d'un jour, l'amour d'une heure embaument mon coeur d'un parfum lourd. Le souvenir d'une bouche, d'un baiser mouillé, un jour de juillet, encore m'émeut, me touche.
Un regard impossible qui atteint l'âme comme la flêche la cible! Fort comme un drame! Et ces mots à peine dits, ces silences qui parlent fort. Et ce départ maudit au goût de petite mort!
On ne laisse que quelques traces qui, à mesure que le temps passe, disparaissent une à une. Nos chances et nos infortunes seront oubliées, c'est sûr! Nos bonheurs et nos blessures n'auront existé jamais. Comme un rêve que l'on vivait! Mais ce jour comme marqué au fer je l'emporterai même en enfer! Tellement je l'ai devant les yeux et qu'il ne sera jamais vieux!
