"The war to end all wars" (sometimes also "the war to end war") is a very famous term of World War I, created in August 1914 and originally used in an idealisitc way. Young men in the trenches believed in that phrase, and it gave apparently a sense to all the bloodshed.
"Der Krieg, der alle Kriege beendet" (manchmal auch "der Krieg, um Krieg zu beenden") ist ein sehr berühmtes Zitat aus der Zeit des Ersten Weltkriegs, entstanden im August 1914 und zur damaligen Zeit in einer idealistischen Weise gebraucht. Die jungen Männer in den Schützengräben Europas glaubten an diesen Spruch, und scheinbar gab er dem Blutvergießen einen Sinn.
